Riserva Naturale del Bosco Solivo

Established in 2006, the Bosco Solivo Nature Reserve covers a total
area of 334 hectares.
The Bosco Solivo Nature Reserve is almost totally influenced by morainic deposits, composed of pebbles and sediment, deposited from the glacial tongue that, up to more than 10,000 years ago, shaped the Verbano amphitheatre (Wurmian period). The result is a mostly gently undulating landscape.
The extended ice age also left traces in the so-called Preaguzza, or Preia Guzzana, a large erratic boulder dragged downstream by the movement of the
ice. More recent gravelly floods (Holocene period) affected a modest surface in
the Northeast, along the river Norè. The territory is morphologically organized
by the slopes of the “Motto Solivo”, culminating at 377 metres above sea level
and sloping downwards towards the North and North East with significant
slopes and by the Rio “Norè”, upstream.
